About Amber Miyamoto

The book I currently read is "Dream On Amber" by Emma Shevah. This book is about a 12-year-old named Amber Alessandra Leola Kimiko Miyamoto. She's the main character who has to face her first day of secondary school, who has quite of a hard time trying to figure herself out. She is half Italian and half Japanese, she lives in South London with her mom. She has a younger sister also, her name is Bella and she is only 6-years-old. Amber being new to this school had a hard time trying to fit in with kids she has never seen before. Meeting Joanne Pyke also resulted in her getting picked on a few times. Amber's father left her when she was a toddler and her sister Bella being only a baby. Ever since then she felt like she was left with a black hole inside of her. I would describe Amber as solicitous and altruistic person. Bella's birthday was coming up and she was really interested in seeing her dad. She wrote letters to him hoping he would respond back, but Amber tried to convince her that he wouldn't. To make her sister feel loved Amber decided to make it seem like the dad was writing back when she actually was. I liked this part because this showed how much of a caring person she was and she wanted to make her sister feel better. Amber as a character kept me interested throughout the story. She has a really unique personality that I haven't come across in a book before. I like this book because it talks about struggles people in real life face. Example, being raised by a single parent, getting bullying, and trying to fit in with people. Amber entered an art competition and she ended up getting 1st place. After that the bullying stopped and she had new friends. She uses drawing as a way of expressing her feelings, and thoughts which leads me to saying she is a caring person, who doesn't try to cause problems at all. I would also describe Amber as a determined person. She didn't have a nice smart phone so she decided to get a job so that she could provide for herself. She worked for her grandmother, and although she wasn't too much interested in her job, she was sure that if she kept up the good work she would be eligible to obtain the phone she wanted. When she earned a plenitude of money, she decided to get her sister Bella what she wanted for her birthday instead of buying herself the phone. Her mother and her grandmother "Nonna" were both very proud so they decided to buy her the cellphone for her consideration. This book distributes perception and intuition on the impact of living in single parent households, and the impact it has on children's lives. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy reading fiction books, and to people who struggle with insecurity's regarding themselves and their lives. I rate this book a 10 out of 10.
