Lady Q

Lady Q The book I'm reading this quarter is Lady Q, by Reymundo Sanchez and Sonia Rodriguez. This book is about Sonia having a harsh life, and joining the Latin Kings. This book is by far unbeatable, compared to all the books I've read this school year. Sonia and her family all grew up in Humboldt Park. Sonia had a harsh childhood , because of her abusive mother and step dad. Sonia grew up with having nobody. She was only 6 when she started getting molested by her own family members. When she tried to tell her mom, she would physically attack her, and call her all types of disrespectful names. Sonia then decided to join the Latin Kings. This was the only way she could feel loved by everyone, and the Kings made sure she was happy. She attended Roberto Clemente Community Academy in Humboldt Park, and would often get harassed by other gang rivals. When some of the Kings turned their backs on her, she didn't know what to do. This book should be read by mature people only. T

Introducing my book

The book I'm currently reading is "The Keysha Diaries" by Earl Sewell. This book is split into two sections. "If I Were Your Boyfriend" and Keysha's Drama. In the Keysha Diaries, Keysha's mom Justine just went back to jail. This situation put Keysha into a group home filled with other teens. The workers there helped get a hold of Keysha's biological father, and he was man enough to take a DNA test to see if he was the father. Turns out he is, and Keysha goes to stay with them. At first, she had trouble adjusting to the new change in her life. Her stepmother Barbara wasn't so easy on her. Her brother Mike was being a little ignorant, but he came out in the end. Keysha and her father are getting really close. Everytime she makes an effort to have a good conversation with him, Barbara comes and ruins it. Keysha thinks Barbara is jealous, but she doesn't care. Going to a new school is exciting and scary for her. She feels really insecure because

Different Point of View

Lesson Learned The book I'm currently reading, and almost done with is "Lesson Learned" by Earl Sewell. This book is about a girl named Keysha who has been through a lot and her brother Mike as well. Keysha's mom just got out of jail and she's trying to get back into her life. This book is told from first-person point of view. Both Mike and Keysha use the words "I" to show their own personal feelings, as well as experiences. Keysha didn't want to get involved with her mother because she thought she would make the same mistakes as to when she was younger. Keysha's mom didn't care about Keysha or her dad feeling's so she decided to put the decision into court's hands. If this story was told from another point of view, we may not have known all of the feelings and expressions the characters present. I believe that if it were told from third-person point of view the readers wouldn't fully understand the mood the events show

No Way Out Review.

A book that I really enjoyed reading last year is "No Way Out' by Peggy Kern. Harold Davis is a student at Bluford High and he faced a lot of troubles. His mom died when he was born, and his dad left after that. His grandmother has been taking care of him ever since then. Harold was in school one day when he got bad news from the teachers. His grandmother had passed out and she cut her leg open. She also had Diabetes. One time he looked through the mail and he saw that a social worker threatened to put him in a foster home. He saw hospital bills that were mind blowing, and thought how could his grandmother work if she was sick? That triggered him and he was really intimidated. He hated that he had to watch her suffer, so he decided to get hisself a job. After a few days he ended up quitting. He didn't want to tell his grandmother so he put on a phase to act like he still had the job. Harold knew the neighborhood drug dealer Londell James, and he was never up to any good. H

" I Will Always Write Back".

The book I currently finished is "I Will Always Write Back", by Caitlin Alifirenka and Martin Ganda. This book is about a girl named Caitlin from Pennsylvania who gets in touch with a boy name Martin from Zimbabwe. The writing all started when Caitlin had to send a "Pen-Pal" letter to someone from a different country. She out of everybody in her class chose to write to a child in Africa. Compared to Martin, Caitlin was really rich. Martin's dad had lost his job and Martin wasn't able to get the supplies he needed to write Caitlin back. He even had to write to her on a ice cream wrapper. Caitlin lived in a huge house with lots of cars , and her parents had good enough jobs to buy whatever she wanted and needed. Martin's family was really poor. Martin and his family had to share 1 bedroom along with other people he didn't know.  He even had to use the same toothbrush for 7 years. Him and his family all shared the same clothes, because there wasn't

About Amber Miyamoto

The book I currently read is "Dream On Amber" by Emma Shevah. This book is about a 12-year-old named Amber   Alessandra Leola Kimiko Miyamoto . She's the main character  who has to face her first day of secondary school, who has quite of a hard time trying to figure herself out. She is half Italian and half Japanese, she lives in South London with her mom. She has a younger sister also, her name is Bella and she is only 6-years-old. Amber being new to this school had a hard time trying to fit in with kids she has never seen before. Meeting Joanne Pyke also resulted in her getting picked on a few times. Amber's father left her when she was a toddler and her sister Bella being only a baby. Ever since then she felt like she was left with a black hole inside of her. I would describe Amber as solicitous and altruistic person. Bella's birthday was coming up and she was really interested in seeing her dad. She wrote letters to him hoping he would respond back, but Amber
